From the clinton global initiative via Itsgettinghotinhere:

Al Gore on Civil Disobedience

"This is a crisis that is happening NOW. Scientists around the world are practically screaming from the rooftops to stop it.

“If you’re a young person, I believe we’ve reached a point of civil disobedience” …to do things like take down coal plants."

Why do we need civil disobedience? We can limit the amount of electricty usage in big ways without resorting to civil disobedience. For a start electric clothes dryers are one of the biggest users of power in the average home. Can you imagine how much power we could save if we all used a clothesline? Most people are reluctant to use a clothesline because they are ugly and considered "Low rent". This doesnt have to be the case, people need to educate themselves on how modern clotheslines can actually create a nice atmosphere in the yard and be very discrete indeed. Modern clotheslines like these ones here, http://www.qualityclotheslines.net actually reduce the amount of space needed in order to dry your clothes. We all need to do our bit and there are many other ways to help reduce our power usage but clothesline use is by far the biggest single thing we can do in the home. Have a think about it.
